Removing Scars Permanently

Removing Scars Permanently

Posted by Rosemary Maddox in Health & Well-Being, Medicine, Other Health

Scars have been considered permanent for a long time. This meant that, once you injured the surface of your skin severely, by cutting, burning or experiencing some other accidents of this type, you would be left with a mark for life, altering your aesthetic appeal significantly. Fortunately, with the advances of modern medicine and cosmetics, this does not have to be the case anymore. Rather, by purchasing an adequate anti scar cream and following the instructions that come with it carefully, you can successfully undo the damage your body has suffered.

Scar Management

While there are many creams that supposedly have the power to remove scars, one needs to be careful when purchasing the right one. Namely, a vast majority of such products do not contain hydrating ingredients, being less effective than those anti scar creams which do. Moreover, lack of hydration on the scar is likely to lead to less effective scar removal and concealment.

These creams are applied topically, right onto the scar surface. Usually, they require to be spread along the scar, moisturizing and revitalizing the affected skin area, promoting healing and regeneration of the tissue. When the skin is exposed to such creams, it produces more collagen, a protein vital for the health of our skin, making scars disappear over certain periods of time.

As for the most commonly used ingredients in such creams, the best anti scar products contain chemicals which trigger regeneration of skin cells and their regrowth. These are vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E, as far as vitamins are concerned. Additionally, scar removal creams also contain other natural extracts, such as aloe vera, cocoa butter, emu oil and even silicone. Moreover, acids like the kojic and lactic ones are used often, along with licorice extract and many others. Apart from revitalizing the skin, these have several other beneficial effects on it, like balancing of the skin color, removal of old skin layers and tissue and several other changes, all of which restore the skin’s natural beauty.

Apart from creams, many people use anti scar lotions as well, especially those which contain silicone. However, such solutions are not equally effective as the above mentioned ones. Nevertheless, they will show results which will be positive, even though it will take twice as long for them to become visible. Thus, it is always better to opt for scar removal creams which come together with scar removal sheets.

The average price you should pay for a good anti scar cream is about $50. Make sure you purchase this product from a pharmacy with a good reputation and do not be afraid to consult with your doctor about any questions you might have regarding your possible choice. Yet, do not forget that the scar which bothers you can easily be removed, restoring the beauty of your skin – all you need to do is to use the right anti scar cream.

Nail Fungus Cure

Nail Fungus Cure

Posted by Rosemary Maddox in Alternative Medicine, Health & Well-Being, Medicine, Other Health

When fungi infect one or more of a person’s nails, then there occurs a nail fungus infection. This may begin with a yellow or white spot beneath the tip of your toe or fingernail and may progress to thickening, nail discolouration and eventually falling of the nail as the fungus spreads. By this time it is very painful and unsightly.

Shower floors and sweaty shoes are attractive environments for the growth of fungi. This is because of the wet and warm conditions found and these areas.Nail fungus infections thrive in such environments.  Athletes foot and nail fungus are not the same infections but may be caused by the same type of fungus. It is possible for someone to have both the nail fungus and athlete’s foot at the same time.

Fungal Cure

Some of the most common cures are apple cider vinegar, distilled vinegar, tea tree oil, oregano oil, hydrogen peroxide, lemon grass essential oil, Vicks vapor rub, coconut oil and Listerine.

One of the fastest ways to cure finger and toenail fungus is to mix 3% hydrogen peroxide and vinegar at a ratio of 50/50. The affected area should be soaked or the mixture added to it using a dropper until there is a little change in colour and no more fizzing when the infection is severe. There may be a little pinch on some people after a while.

This should then be followed by soaking your hands soaked in Clorox bleach which has been mixed with water and stirred.  A strong concentration may be required if the infection is severe. During this time the fingernails absorb the chlorine. After rinsing with water the finger nail should be put in a mixture 50/50 mixture of tea tree oil and Vaseline. Put on a band aid for a whole day. This cure should be repeated for at least 3 to 4 days.

It may not be such a big problem to get rid of the finger and tonail fungus. The main problem may be how to get an anti-fungal staying on the nails long enough to destroy them. The greatest challenge is the fungi that exists in shoes, socks and moisture in common areas. This makes fungus reinfection inevitable unless these areas are totally cured. Using bleaches for socks and change socks daily may be one of the ways of destroying fungus.  The shoes worn during the working hours should be well ventilated. If possible it would be advisable to avoid keeping fingernails wet when handling chores such as dishwashing. Plastic and rubber gloves that are water proof and clean can be used in such instances. If the hands must be wet then applying the tea tree oil would be helpful.

When infected with the fingernail fungus, nail polish should be avoided as this may encourage and cover up the growth of this fungus. It is also advisable to expose your hands to sunlight as fungus do not like heat.

Medications That Ease the Woes of Menopause

Medications That Ease the Woes of Menopause

Posted by Rosemary Maddox in Alternative Medicine, Health & Well-Being, Medicine, Supplements

Until recently, many medical experts believed that hormone replacement therapy was the safest and most effective way of helping women go through their menopause experiencing the smallest number of symptoms of this stage possible. However, today, certain studies have proven that this therapy can be quite dangerous, potentially leading to heart problems, dementia and even cancer, even though there are many women who have already undergone hormone replacement therapy without suffering from any side-effects.

Now, menopause medication is mainly focused around two types of drugs, those based on hormones and those without them.

As far as the first category is concerned, doctors may prescribe antidepressants. This form of menopause medication is best for preventing bouts of sweating, more commonly referred to as hot flashes. Also, these drugs prevent nervousness, depression and mood swings.

Medications

Alternatively, blood pressure drugs like Clodine can be used for dealing with menopause symptoms since hypertension can lead to some of them too. Gabapentin is also used for these purposes. Nevertheless, it is crucial to consult with your doctor before taking any of these drugs on your own.

On the other hand, the there are much more types of medications which are based on hormones. First of all, in the period before menopause, women can use birth control pills in order to balance their menstruation cycles, making sure that their menstrual bleeding is not excessive. Yet, side-effects may affect women who use these pills, so make sure you get adequately and thoroughly informed beforehand.

Vaginal dryness, a common menopause problem, can be mended with creams which contain low-dose vaginal estrogen.

Hormone Replacement Therapy

Those who are against the hormone replacement therapy recommend a more natural alternative called bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, as an effective form of menopause medication. But, women who use this approach need to bear in mind that it is a part of an area of medicine which requires further research. In general, hormone replacement therapy, in any of its forms, should not be applied for a time period which is too long. Overexposure to these hormones can lead to side-effects and, in order to avoid this, it is best to limit the duration of this therapy.

Finally, hormonal therapy for libido problems during menopause is based on testosterone. Again, various tests have shown that using this approach for longer than 3 months is not recommended. Nevertheless, through regular visits to the doctor and adequate monitoring of one’s health condition, women can use hormone-based medication for up to 5 years of their menopause.

All in all, there are many possible treatments and drugs which can be called menopause medication. Still, women should be careful about these and make sure that they are using them for the best, avoiding any adverse effects.
